ONE HOPE'S GUIDING VALUES
What drives us?
The mission of One Hope is to demonstrate the Gospel in real and tangible ways so refugees in the Mediterranean will know they are seen, heard, and loved by God, leading them to the ONE HOPE found in Jesus. But what does that look like?
The guiding values of One Hope reflect the passions, practices and personality of the organization and drive us to reach refugees in the world’s most challenging environments.
Our Guiding Values
KINGDOM-MINDED
We strive to be Kingdom-minded—to make a name for Jesus rather than ourselves. We work alongside local people of the Kingdom—individuals, churches, and organizations–-to promote God’s global agenda, which is the gospel.
GRACE-ORIENTED
Emphasizing God’s unconditional acceptance and full forgiveness through Jesus Christ so that we can guide and motivate people through a grace-based, rather than law-based, orientation to life.
SERVANT-HEARTED
Serving others with a humble, servant-focused heart and a teachable spirit so the glory of God’s salvation may shine more powerfully.
RELATIONSHIP-DRIVEN
Initiating and cultivating meaningful relationships with people in our communities as the starting point to intentionally moving people toward a loving relationship with Jesus.
INTEGRITY-FOCUSED
Exhibiting integrity through personal and organizational accountability in lifestyle, relationships, finances, and ministry management, and, by God’s grace, striving to exhibit a Christ-like character in our daily living.
CREATIVITY-CENTERED
Using and valuing creativity and innovative strategies to reach people for Christ.
We Believe:
God
There is one God who exists eternally in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
.
The Father
God the Father is the source of all that is good. He initiates creation and redemption, which He accomplishes through His Son and the Holy Spirit.
.
The Bible
God’s written Word, the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, reveals for all peoples His character, purposes, and love for His creation. It is the final authority in all matters relating to belief and behavior. The Holy Spirit moved the human authors of the Bible so that what they wrote is inspired, fully reliable, and without error in all it affirms.
Humanity
Humanity is the climax of God’s earthly creation, bearing His image, designed for relationship with Him, and being the object of His redeeming love. While every person has potential for good no one is able to save themselves from sin’s penalty and power, death and alienation from God.
Jesus
Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man, entered history as Savior of the world. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life in perfect submission to the Father and in loving relationship with others. All His miracles were true. He willingly died in the place of sinners on a cross and then was truly resurrected and ascended back to heaven.
Salvation
Christ’s sacrificial death, in which He bore the punishment due to sinners, is the only and all-sufficient basis of God’s provision of salvation for all people of every culture and age, expressing His love and satisfying His justice. By God’s grace the repentant sinner, through trusting alone in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, is put right with God, adopted by the Father into His family and receives eternal life.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit regenerates with divine life and personally indwells the believer upon faith in Christ for salvation. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are born again, and the work of the Spirit includes convicting us of sin and empowering us to be righteous.
The Church
The Church is the body of Jesus Christ, and it is composed of all true believers. We believe these local assemblies are also the church, for it is in these local assemblies that the work of the church is carried out. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God. It finds local expression in communities of believers who worship God, fellowship together, love and teach people, and make Christ known to a lost world.
The Future
Jesus Christ will personally and bodily return to this world. His return will complete and establish the ongoing enjoyment of our salvation in His glorious Kingdom.
